This quote shows how having beauty in character is related to peace in the world. If you have a good character you will set an example for others and soon a lot of people will have good character, it's a chain effect. That will then bring harmony in the home then lead to order in the nation and go on to peace in the world. If you have a bad character then only a few will follow you and that can affect those with good character. This will not bring harmony in the home, it will not lead to order in the nation and it will not lead to peace in the world. This is why it is so important to have a good character because it can cause great reactions like peace in the world.
There are many examples of how good character can take you far in life. For example, if you are always choosing the right and your younger siblings see this. They will want to follow in your footsteps and choose the right as well because they will see how successful you became because of your good character. Another example would be you always choosing the wrong and your siblings seeing this. They will do the same mistakes you did because they only saw you choosing the wrong all the time. This is basically what I understood from this quote from Chinese Proverbs.
