Student Success Statement:Joseph B. Wirthlin

"Kindness is the essence of greatness."
  -Joseph B. Wirthlin

This quote means that a person could excel at something, but it doesn't meant that they are a great person. Being a great person means being kind to others, and always choosing what is right. By being kind you will stand out in a good way and be seen as a great person. By doing the opposite you will just blend with the crowd and will be seen as a bad person. It doesn't only do good for those around you but for you as well.

There are many examples of how kindness is the essence of greatness. For example, you can be kind which will lead you to having many friends, getting good grades, and be loved by many. This will come handy in life when ever you need help or just someone to be there for you. Another example would be you not being kind which leads you to not having friends, getting bad grades and not having anyone there for you. This won't help you in life because you won't                                                       succeed and be stuck in situation. this is basically what I understood                                                       from this quote.

Thanksgiving Week

This past week I did many things from going out to sleeping in. One of the things I did was watch the big fight at my grandparents house with all my family. We had my grandma make food meanwhile we went to go see the parade that happened in Pacific. By the time we came back the fight had began we all sat around excited. After that the rest of the weekdays I would either work on homework, go out getting things for thanksgiving or go to fifteen practice. My weekdays were pretty much boring up until Thanksgiving.
On Thanksgiving everyone came over to my house to eat and celebrate. All we did was eating and just sit around talking or watching what was on t.v. On black Friday we ending up going to the mall in Cerritos to go shopping.Saturday we went to a party for a friend after that we stopped to get doughnuts before coming home. Lastly Sunday was just a day to sleep in one last time and to finish up homework. Later on Sunday I went to fifteen practice again and that was what i did all week.

Student Success Statement: Marcus Aurelius

"If it is not right, do not do it; if it is not true; do not say it."-Marcus Aurelius

This quote states that you need to choose the right and if you think that something is wrong then do not do it and do what's good for you. This quote also states that if its also not true do not say it and choose the right thing. I agree with this quote because it shows me to do what best for me. Also i agree with this quote because if its a wrong thing than don't do it and if its a good thing then do it. One example would be if your friends tell you to something that is not true than you choose the right and you need to tell the truth. Another example is if your friends tell you a really big lie about someone do not say it and stand up for the truth. I really like this quote because it has a really good meaning to it. Also this quote is very true. All you need to do is to choose the right and do not lie about anything. A last example is when you want to lie don't lie tell the truth. And if you choose the right it makes you a better person in life. And if you lie you will be dealing with the consequences.

Thanksgiving

                         Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a holiday for giving thanks for what you are thankful for and to spend time with family. It is celebrated in Canada and the United States and some other parts of the world like Japan, The Norfolk Islands, Liberia and the Netherlands. The first thanksgiving was celebrated between the Plymouth colonist and the Wampanoag Indians  in Plymouth Rock, Massachusetts in 1621. Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November. There is many different traditions it all depends on the families. Almost everyone eats turkey but there is also stuff like bread rolls, corn bread, mash potatoes, and dessert like pies. Thanksgiving is a great holiday to give thanks and begin the holidays.

Student Success Statement:Chick Moorman

"Doing what is right, fair and honorable is more important than winning or losing."-Chick Moorman

This quote means that it doesn't matter who wins or loses but the way the game was played. It doesn't just set an example for when playing a game but life as well. If you choose the right in life you will go far and succeed. If you choose the wrong in life you will not go far in life instead you will be stuck in the same place. You need to be able to decide whether you want to risk everything for something  not necessary or keep on the same track to success.

There are many examples of how it is more important to be right, fair, and honorable rather than winning or losing. For example, if you were to not cheat while playing a game but you lost, yeah you lost but you lost with integrity. Another example would be you cheating and winning but you won with integrity. So like I stated before it is up to you whether you choose the right or not.

Student Success Statement: W. Clement Stone

1.Have the courage to say no.
2.Have the courage to face the truth.
3.Do the right thing because it is right.
These are the 3 magic keys to living your life with integrity." -W. Clement Stone

This quote mean that there are 3 ways to live your life with integrity. If you want to live your life the right way then you got to follow these steps. By following these steps you will live a life with honesty, trust, respect, and many more qualities. It is important to be able to live up to these 3 steps. The kind of lifestyle you have is up to you,the decisions will affect whether  you have a good or bad life.

There are many examples of how these threes steps will lead you to live a life with integrity. For example if you have the courage to say no then that's a really good feature to have because if you can't say no you will fall in the bad path. Another example would be you not being able to face the truth so you continue living in lies and that leading you down a bad path. In addition, you not doing the right thing because you can't tell the difference between right and wrong so again leads you down a bad path. This is basically what i understood from the quote.

Veterans Day

                                                         Veterans Day
What is Veterans Day?
Veterans Day is a public holiday held on the anniversary of the end of World War I to honor US veterans and victims of all wars.
When is it?
November 11
What is the purpose of Veterans Day?
The purpose of Veterans Day is to honor those veterans and victims of World War I whose lives we lost.
List several ways to show honor and respect on Veterans Day
·        visit a wounded veteran at the hospital
·        deliver a meal or care packages to veterans
·        put up a American flag
·        donate to a organization that helps out veterans
·        send a thank you letter to a veteran

Reflection: I think it is important to honor Veterans Day because without them we wouldn’t be where we are today. Veterans Day is a day to remember what happened in order to be grateful for those veterans and victims that lost their lives. We should be thankful that those people were willing to die in order to keep this country going. They not only risked their lives but also left families behind devastated, for those families it was hard to let them go but was necessary. I feel as though all those they don’t get enough appreciation. It is easier said than done to serve for our country, so we need to come together to appreciate those who dedicate their lives to our safety. This will lead us to be more appreciated on days like Veterans Day and be able to keep the tradition going. Help Veteran's day really show those who have serve our appreciation plus don't forget to show your support! After all, your support is what may keep them going.

Student Success Statement: Proverbs 13:20

"He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed" -Proverbs 13:20

This quote means that if you hang out with good people you will be good like them. You will be influenced into doing good things like your homework or to get good grades. If you hang out with bad people you will be bad like them. You will be influenced into doing bad things like smoking or drinking with them. It up to you whether you choose to hang out with wise people or fools but this decision will determine how you are as a person.

There are any examples of how it is important to choose the right kind of people to hang out with. For example, you hang out with a group of friends that encourages you to do your homework or study for a test this making you wise like them. This will later on help you because you will be used to these habits and know who is right to hang out with. Another example would be you hanging out with a group of friends that encourage you to smoke or go drinking with them this making you a fool like them. This won't help you because you can get addicted which will cause horrible damages in the future. This is basically what I understood from this quote.

Student Success Statement:William Penn

"The best recreation is to do good." -William Penn

This quote means that the best way to restart is by beginning with something good. If you do good you will feel good about yourself so it will help you to restart easier. If you do this it will not only affect you but the people around you too in a positive way. If you do bad you will feel bad about yourself so it won't really help you to restart. Again it won't only affect you but the people around you too but in a negative way.

There are many examples of how the best recreation is good. For example, if you donate to a charity you will feel great about what you did. At the same time you are helping out someone in need so it is affecting them in a positive way. Another example would be you going out and smoking with some friends which doesn't make you feel good but you do it anyways. That later on leads you to becoming addicted and you don't end up accomplishing anything in life. That is basically what I understood from this quote.

Student Success Statement:William Penn

"Right is right, even if everyone is against it; and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it."
-William Penn

This quote means that no matter what anyone thinks right will always be right and wrong will always be wrong. All that should matter is what you think and you shouldn't worry about what others are doing. If something is right you will be able to decide whether it is right or not. If something is wrong you will be able to decide whether it is wrong or not. Whether it is right or wrong it will be up to you to decide wisely.

There are many examples of how right will always be right and wrong will always be wrong. For example, others don't do there homework but you do in return you get good grades which will help you later on in life. Another example would be some of your friends telling you to smoke with them but you don't knowing that it's wrong later on you find out they got arrested and see how much that could of affected you. Like I said before it is up to you whether you will choose the right or the wrong. This is basically what I understood from the quote.
