Student Success Statement: Wilford Woodruff

“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.” - Wilford Woodruff
This quote means that you won’t ever accomplish anything by choosing the wrong. If you choose the right you will gain trust and respect from others around you. Everyone will know you're a trustworthy and respectful person because you stay on the right track all the time. If you choose the wrong instead of gaing you'll be losing a lot of trust and respect when you get caught. Everyone will know you a untrustworthy and disrespectful person for always being on the wrong track. This is why it is important to know that you will not gain from choosing the wrong.

There are many example of how nothing is ever gained from choosing the wrong. For example you choose to cheat on a test and you get a perfect score. What will happen if your parents choose to ask you some of the questions to prove if you really did get a perfect score and you don’t understand any? You will end up getting grounded for cheating and the teacher will be notified of how you choose the wrong. The gain is only temporary but the consequences are permanent for choosing the wrong. This is basically what I understood from this quote by Wilford Woodruff.

Las Vegas

Two weeks ago I went to Las Vegas with my best friend, Jasmin. We went since on Saturday she had a cheer competition and I went to go support her. We left on Friday from their house around 7pm and didn’t arrive until about 12am. The car ride was so long, it was like 5 hours or more. We took junk food, talked , listening to music and even fell asleep since it was a very long car ride. When we arrived we went straight to our room and just fell asleep since we would have to get up early the next day.

The next day we woke up and got ready to head out to get something quick to eat. We ending up going to Starbucks and went to the mall. We went to the mall so that Jasmin could get her makeup done meanwhile me and her sister, Alyssa walked around the mall. We went into many stores and just looked around. Her mom ending up taking her to the competition while we walked around some more and she promised to be back to pick us up after dropping her off. Once her mom came back we headed to the competition and got ready to see them perform. Once they performed her mom, sister and me left to go do the spectator dance. After we did the spectator dance they gave out awards and we left back to our room. Once we got to our room we changed to go to the pool, but in the end the pool was closed. Instead we got ready to go walk around the strip for a bit. We walked around then went to go eat at a chinese restaurant and returned to the room.

On Sunday we woke up around 6am and packed everything to leave back home. They checked out and headed to the car to begin our way home. On the way back home it was again a long car ride which I sleep through practically the whole time. I had so much fun with my best friend, it had always been one of our goals to go to Las Vegas together.

Student Success Statement: Pam Knox

“It’s a great moment when someone has the character to step up and do the right thing at the right time.” - Pam Knox

This quote means that it is important to do the right thing at the right time. If you do the right thing at the right time then great things will come your way. People will know you for choosing the right and have respect towards you. If you don’t do the right thing at the right time then bad things will come your way. People will know you for this and never want to help you when you are in need of help because of this. That is why it is important for you to know when it is the right time to stand up for someone or something.

There are many examples of how important it is to stand up for someone or something. For example, if you see someone being bullied you should go and stand up for the person being bullied. You should do this because you saw what happened and it would be the right thing to do. If you didn’t stand up for them then you are choosing the wrong because it is almost as though you are helping the bully. This is basically what I understood from this quote by Pam Knox.

Student Success Statement: Karl G. Maeser

“ I have been asked what I mean by ‘word of honor.’ I will tell you: Place me behind prison walls--walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground--there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape; but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it. Can I get out of that circle? No, never! I’d die first.” - Karl G. Maeser

This quote means that it is important to stick to your word and never back away from it. If you give your word then you have to do what was asked of or people will lose trust in you. No one will want to trust you because you didn’t keep your word after promising to keep your word. If you give your word and do what is asked of you then people will always see you as trustworthy and honest. They will be able to believe in your word because of how you have been able to keep your word. This is basically what I understood from this quote by Karl G. Maeser.
